Old walls need lime to breathe. We rake out failing or cement pointing by hand and repoint in traditional lime mortar, matched to your wall for colour, texture and finish.

Why lime, not cement
Lime is softer and more breathable than the stone around it. Moisture leaves through the joints rather than the stone face. Hard cement traps moisture and can cause the face of soft stone to spall.
What's involved
- Choose lime to suit the wall
- Let moisture escape through the joints

Careful raking out
We remove failing mortar and hard cement pointing by hand, working carefully around the arrises so the edges of the stone or brick stay sound.
What's involved
- Remove failed joints by hand
- Keep the stone and brick edges intact

Matched mortar
We use hydraulic and non-hydraulic lime mixes to suit the wall. The aggregates are chosen for colour and texture, and the joint finish is matched to the original.
What's involved
- Select the right lime mix
- Match aggregate colour and texture
- Agree the joint finish

Stone, flint and brick
We repoint limestone, ironstone, flint and brick, from house walls and chimneys to garden and boundary walls. The mortar and finish are chosen for the fabric, not the other way round.
What's involved
- Work with the existing wall materials
- Repoint open and failing joints
- Protect the new mortar as it cures
